Monetäre Regionalisierung Regionalwährungen als Katalysatoren einer endogenen Entwicklung Weltweit ist eine Zunahme der Anzahl und Ausformung alternativer Währungs- und Wirtschaftssysteme zu beobachten. Im 20. Jahrhundert sind besonders in Zeiten wirtschaftlicher Krisen und hoher Arbeitslosigkeit unterschiedliche Modelle entwickelt und umgesetzt worden. Manche der in Europa vor allem während der Weltwirtschaftskrise entstandenen Systeme bestehen bis heute, wie die Schweizer WIR Bank, andere verschwanden nach kurzer Zeit wieder. In den letzten Dekaden des vergangenen Jahrhunderts sind weltweit neue Formen alternativer und lokaler Währungssysteme aufgetaucht: Besonders erwähnt seien hier die LET-Systeme, Regionalgeld in Argentinien als Reaktion auf den Zusammenbruch des Bankensystems und Regional- und Sektoralwährungssysteme in Korea und Japan. more… Monetary Regionalisation Local currency systems as catalysts for endogenous regional development A worldwide uprising of complementary local currency systems is showing up at present. In 20th Century Europe, local currency systems were developed and implemented as instruments for regional development primarily during the economic depression of the 1930s. Some of those initiatives ceased to exist after a short period of time; others, like the Swiss WIR, still operate successfully today. During the last few decades of the past century new local currency systems have appeared worldwide, often in conditions of economic decline. A special mention must be given to LET-systems, to Argentinean local currencies and to local and sectoral currency systems in Korea and Japan. more…
